So who are your speakers?
As a Chartered Financial Planner, Rachel Harte advised high net worth clients before joining a UK fintech start-up in 2020 to co-develop the first digital financial coaching experience for the workplace. This included championing the emerging financial coach profession. She’s an Education Champion for the Personal Finance Society, running free financial education workshops in schools. She also has an EMCC coaching accreditation, is a Mental Health First Aider and is a young person’s life coach at Leeds University.
I took the opportunity to ask Rachel why money first aid is so crucial to wellbeing.
“Money impacts nearly every aspect of our lives. It influences the jobs we take, where and how we live, the quality of our relationships, and our ability to connect socially. When we face financial struggles, these areas often suffer. People may experience sleepless nights, anxiety, stress, and worry – leading to a significant impact on mental health and overall wellbeing.”
She adds: “Money First Aid is about raising awareness of the various financial challenges people face, how these struggles impact their lives, the emotions involved, and the support available. Financial difficulties can happen to anyone, for a range of reasons, including life events like bereavement, divorce, illness, or redundancy. By increasing awareness and reducing the stigma around financial difficulties, we create an environment where people feel safe to seek the support they need.”
Stacey Lowman has worked for global corporates, fintechs and startups in Europe, Asia and Silicon Valley. An accredited financial coach since 2016, Stacey set up her own Financial Coaching business in 2018, with a focus on financial wellbeing and values-led money management for positive impact. Alongside Rachel, Stacey co-developed the first digital financial wellbeing experience for the workplace.
